4 Earrings by Women-Owned Brands We Love

I first found out about Babe Comets while perusing the internet for black business’ to support--the brand had appeared in an article in Remezcla featuring a list of online shops run by Afro Latinas. When I clicked on their IG, I was immediately struck by how colorful and playful the design of these pompom earrings looked. If you’re like me and love big statement earrings, but hate feeling weighed down by heavy materials, I would 100% recommend getting a pair of these lightweight stunners.

OHME, which was founded by Mia Stephenson, is a seattle-based jewelry brand that’s vision is to “make pieces that are beautiful and easy to wear, and that embody our feminism, optimism, and even our sense of humor.”  I was first introduced to this brand at the Renegade Craft Fair in Seattle, but being me, I was too indecisive to pick which pair of earrings I wanted at the time. A week later I visited Shipsongcollective, a small storefront in North Seattle, to go claim these bad boys. Needless to say, I haven’t looked back since.

Carly Stilson is jewelry artist extraordinaire, who handcrafted these earrings (photographed below) in her Seattle home. Stilson’s instagram features a range of earrings made with different materials, but her main mediums are wire and clay.  When I dm’d Stilson for the pair I’m wearing below, she was so helpful and responsive--and even took out the time to deliver them to my apartment herself! An icon. She also ships out-of-state for all of you not in Seattle!

Bay Area friends! The Good Stock is a woman-owned boutique in Oakland. It was founded in 2011 by Dana Olson and holds pieces “made by individuals all over the globe, some working independently and others part of collectives that empower women in compromised circumstances.”
